The trade request for James Harden was impossible for the Houston Rockets. Their lifelong star wanted out, and they couldn’t get anything equivalent in return.
After weeks of drama and speculation, the Rockets finally agreed to a deal involving four other teams. They sent Harden to the Nets and got Victor Oladipo, Dante Exum, Rodion Kurucs and four first-round picks in return.
At the time, that offer was considered unbearable for someone like Harden, especially when it was rumored that the 76ers were willing to offer more.
But the world is changing, and Rocket soon realizes how important Harden is to his success.
A few months later, Houston, now ranked 14th in the West, decided to make another move, this time with newcomer Victor Oladipo. Thursday they finally traded him to Miami for Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk and a 2022 pick.
On the other hand, it allows Houston to move forward with its redevelopment project. But when fans realized that the Rockets were basically giving up Harden for Avery Bradley, Kelly Olynyk, Dante Exuma, Rodion Kurucs and a bunch of late first round picks, they unfortunately became a laughing stock on social media.

The three main players (besides Harden) in the James Harden trade are Victor Oladipo, Jarrett Allen and Caris LeVert.
Somehow, the Rockets don’t have any of those four players.

The Houston Rockets suck. They could take Jarrett Allen and Levert for Harden. Instead, they chose an Oladipo. Oladipo was just traded for Avery Bradley and Olynyk. Lol. They’re drifters.

Honestly, the Rockets must feel really bad about ruining the Harden trade. As one of the best players in the league, it’s clear they could have gotten more for him, even with their damaged leverage.
Of course they (or anyone else) can’t do anything about it now. The best they can hope for is a good draw with their non-lottery stocks.
From any point of view, they still have a long way to go…..
