Fabio Paratici responds to Spurs rumours, Antonio Conte gets cold feet

After being linked with Tottenham and Manchester United, it appears that Antonio Conte has been caught out by a newspaper article which suggests he has put off a decision on his future.

In a leaked chat from October, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino and his Spurs chairman Daniel Levy were seen discussing the potential arrivals of some big name players to aid them in their title challenge.

This Wednesday, The Telegraph reported that Spurs are interested in signing Juventus midfielder Fabio Paratici, whom Juve are looking to offload once their transfer ban is lifted. Now, Spurs have confirmed that they are interested in bidding for the player, but will not make an official bid. Asked specifically about the Spurs’ position, Paratici said: I don’t think this is the time to talk about other clubs. Today I say goodbye to Juventus. My family hopes I find a job soon! He added: I am very proud of what I have done and achieved at Juventus. Working at Juventus means becoming a better professional and a better person. I’m changing clubs. I hope to share the same passion as here.

Although Paratici spent his final years at Juve after a number of failed transfers for big money, he has contributed to a team that has dominated Serie A since Conte revived the club in the 2011/12 season. This year, Paratici managed to contract Andrea Pirlo via a free transfer and acquire Arturo Vidal for around £8.5m, while a year earlier Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Barzagli had been contracted. It is believed that Conte and Paratici are on good terms and would like to work together again, although The Times reports that Conte is not yet convinced to take the job at Spurs and has a number of concerns. word-image-7515 Conte wants big money to change Spurs (Photo: Reuters) The Italian coach is aware that he has a huge task to rebuild Tottenham and is unsure if he will have the resources to compete with the other top clubs in the Premier League. He is also concerned about Harry Kane’s desire to leave North London and will not take the job if the English player’s future at the club is not certain. Salary is not an issue as Spurs are willing to make Conte one of the highest paid managers in the country, but he will consider the offer this weekend and could ask for a bigger transfer budget to buy the players he thinks he needs.
