What is the NEST examination?

The NEST exam is a mandatory exam for all students seeking admission to the National Institute of Science Education and Research and UM-DAE-CEBS. This exam is held in 90 different cities in India. Based on the scores obtained in NEST 2021, a separate list of suitable candidates will be prepared for the CEBS and NISERs. The exam will be conducted in Hindi and English. word-image-8692 Age limit Candidates wishing to take the NEST examination must meet the NEST criteria. General or OBC candidates must be eligible on or after 1. August 2001. On the other hand, candidates belonging to the reserved categories, such as SC/ST/ or PWS, are given a 5-year derogation. Education Candidates for the NEST examination must hold a 10+2 diploma or a degree from a recognised university or board. Candidates should score at least 60% or equivalent in Exam XII. For ST/PWD/SC candidates, the cumulative score is at least 55%. Applicants must have a 10+2 degree in science. He/she has to pass XII exam in three subjects including mathematics, biology, chemistry and physics. Candidates who have registered can also register for the NEST examination. Candidates will have to take the XII exam in 2019 or 2020. Candidates with marks on their marks list must provide a certificate from the relevant university or body, which may indicate a percentage of the marks. In the absence of a certificate, the final decision is in the hands of the admissions committee of the university concerned. The NEST exam is a self-paced, pen and paper exam. It contains only one document, which is divided into 5 sections. It includes several subjects, such as general skills, biology, mathematics, chemistry and physics. It contains multiple choice questions. The duration of the exam is 3 hours. The total score of the exam is 230 points. There are 30 points for general skills and 50 points each for physics, chemistry, biology, chemistry and mathematics, for a total of 200 points. The NEST questions are designed to best test candidates’ understanding and analytical skills in each subject area. The appraisal system also varies according to the department. It depends on the nature of the question. Section 1- does not provide a negative assessment of general skills. No points will be deducted for a wrong answer. Other subjects, such as biology, mathematics, chemistry and physics, are evaluated negatively. The number of questions in this NEST test may vary from year to year.

How to complete the NEST form

The NEST application form will be available online from February. You can only complete the application form on NEST’s official website: www.nestexam.in. Follow these steps to find out how easy it is to register for the NEST exam:

  • Visit the official NEST website at nestexam.in.
  • Click on the Online Application link on the website to go to the online application page.
  • Enter your important data: Name, ID, password of your choice and your e-mail.
  • Applicants will then receive an email at the specified email address to confirm their registration via a link.
  • Shortly after the confirmation, enter your ID and password and the secret code, and click Sign In.
  • If you have forgotten your password, you can click on the Forgotten Password option.
  • Candidates can only receive their password twice; this is for security reasons.

  • You can pay your NEST exam fees online with a debit or credit card or through online banking.
  • You cannot send bills of exchange on demand for payment of fees.
  • There are no cash costs associated with the NEST test.
  • General, OBC and EWS candidates have to pay Rs 1200 for the NEST exam.
  • SC/PWD/ST candidates and female candidates have to pay Rs 600 as registration fee to NEST.

Result of NEST

The results of the ENEST examination are usually announced in May. Candidates can view the results online. Candidates are requested to follow the updates on the official NEST website.
