With More Businesses Requiring Proof Of Vaccination, County Board Of Supervisors To Vote On Employee Vaccine Mandate –

Children in the United States are required to have vaccinations before attending school (and so many are vaccinated, but why?). However, some businesses are also requiring their employees to be vaccinated. For example, the Los Angeles Unified school district is requiring their employees to be vaccinated. The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors will be voting on a requirement that employees be vaccinated.

The Board of Supervisors’ Health and Human Services Committee is considering a proposal that would make it mandatory for nearly all County employees to be vaccinated against measles, mumps, and rubella, according to County Executive Steve Schuh.

The Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors will likely vote on a mandate requiring employers to provide proof of employees’ vaccination against certain diseases. The new requirement would apply to businesses with 15 or more employees. The move is part of a broader effort to increase immunization rates in the county, which ranks last in the state for vaccination rates.. (CBSLA) – LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) – The LA County Board of Supervisors will decide next week on whether to compel all county workers to disclose their vaccination status or submit to weekly testing, as more local companies choose to demand evidence of vaccination or negative COVID-19 tests to enter their facilities.

Beginning next month, the Equinox Group, which also owns Soul Cycle, will require evidence of vaccination for members to access its gyms.

“I believe in a scenario where you’re trying to exercise while wearing a mask, it’s extremely tough to do it, and if that’s the answer, I’m OK with that,” one Equinox Hollywood member stated.With-More-Businesses-Requiring-Proof-Of-Vaccination-County-Board-Of

Equinox Group stated in a statement that it polled both members and staff. The findings showed that 96 percent of its members, as well as 89 percent of the company’s employees, are completely vaccinated. “While these findings are promising,” the statement continues, “leading and pushing real change is more essential than ever.”

“I believe it is an indication that everyone is growing more concerned about the Delta variety, and I believe people are becoming angry with individuals who refuse to be vaccinated,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn.

On Wednesday, Hahn will introduce a motion requiring all 100,000 county workers to be vaccinated or tested regularly.

“In addition, we will require all healthcare workers to get vaccinated. COVID-19 would be added to the list of viruses against which healthcare workers must be immunized, she said.

The public will have the opportunity to speak on the proposal at the Board of Supervisors meeting next Tuesday. The county will have 15 days to come up with a plan if the board approves the proposal.

Currently, Hahn does not envision the board requiring companies to do the same, but she hopes they will join the battle with the county.

The LA County Department of Public Health Office of Communications & Public Affairs said over email, “The County is not requiring proof of vaccination for customers to enter specific businesses at this point in time. We applaud those businesses that are assessing risks to their employees and customers and adding additional layers of protection, including requiring proof of vaccination.”

When asked whether the city intends to follow New York City’s lead and require vaccinations for indoor businesses, he said no. Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Deputy Communications Director, Alex Comisar, issued the following statement:

“On these matters, the Mayor always follows the advice of County public health experts, and no such requirement is currently proposed or planned. But, with the number of instances and hospitalizations on the rise, nothing is off the table. The Mayor strongly encourages everyone to be vaccinated, and he supports companies that take precautions to protect their employees and customers.”
