The secrets of Aurora Teegarden

Charlaine Harris, author of the mysteries of Aurora Teegarden, on which Hallmark’s Aurora Teegarden series is based, has stopped writing new books for the series. She revealed more about her decision on her Facebook page.

She stated that she was no longer under contract, but was leaving Aurora in good condition.

In a series of Q&A on his Facebook page, Harris shared that fans shouldn’t expect anything new from the Aurora Teagarden book series. According to Amazon, the series consists of ten books, the first of which was published in 1990. However, Harris herself stated that she had written 11 books in the series. The latest, Sleep Like a Baby, was released in 2017. There was a long period between the Poppy’s Death series, released in 2003, and the next series, All the Little Liars, released in 2016. Despite the discrepancy between these books, Ms. Harris stated that she had no intention of releasing another book in the series at this time.

A reader asked her if she had a new book coming soon when she announced that a new movie would premiere at Hallmark in October 2020. She just answered: No, I’m sorry.

In response to another question, she explained that she does not currently have a contract to write the Aurora books.

In another thread she said she had written the whole story and thought she had left Aurora in the right place.

Extension of the film beyond the original material

Hallmark started producing TV movies based on his books, and there are now 14 movies in the Aurora Teegarden series. While Harris has only 10 books in the series, Hallmark has 14 films. Harris explained that this is because Hallmark expanded its source material with their permission.

She wrote: I didn’t write screenplays for movies, but before I was eleven, they were based on my books. Because the movies are very popular, Hallmark asked them if they could enrich them with their own original stories.

Since Hallmark has Harris’ agreement to go beyond the basic material, his refusal to write new books should not affect whether or not the Aurora Teagarden-Hallmark series continues, or how long it will last.

Nor does she intend to write from her Sookie Stackhouse universe.

Harris also wrote the Sookie Stackhouse series, on which the HBO True Blood series is based.

In an article for TV Insider, Harris stated that the True Blood series is much more violent than his book series. She wrote: When I saw the first episode, I was impressed and scared because it was so different [from the books] and so graphic.

After writing his latest novel – the 13th in the Sookie Stackhouse series – Harris received death threats, book order cancellations and suicide threats, the Guardian reports.

In May 2020, she revealed on Facebook that she was hesitant to write Sookie Stackhouse novels. She wrote: I sincerely doubt I can write another Sookie book, and so far none of the other characters have inspired a story for me. I hope everyone who enjoyed the books will give Lizbeth Rose’s new Shooter series a chance.
