10 Ways to Choose the Right Transparent LED Display

There was a time when advertising in an exciting was expensive. Also, motion art was only for big brands, but then LED displays were invented and the scenario changed. LED transparent display screens made it possible for businesses, event organizers, advertisers, and others to advertise flamboyantly within budget.

As the market share and customer recognition of transparent LED displays is increasing, the number of LED manufacturers is also on the rise. Also, as almost every LED display manufacturer uses the same construction principle and inventory, choosing the best quality LED display screens can be a challenge.

This article lists 10 ways to choose the right transparent LED display.

1. Brightness factor 

Any transparent LED display you choose will have a brightness level. You need to pick a screen that meets your requirements. The brightness level of the LED screen must be decided where you want to put it and what sort of content you will be displaying. Usually, the brighter the LED display, the higher will be the cost.

If you plan to place the transparent indoor LED display, a brightness level of 800 or lower is fine. As indoors there is minimal sunlight content will be well presented even at lower brightness. However, if you plan to use the transparent LED display for outdoor placement choose a brightness level of above 900.

2. Check for brightness consistency 

A transparent LED display is made from a series of individual LED lamps. A quality screen will have LEDs with uniform brightness. When buying a LED display screen, check for the consistency of LED lamps for color and brightness. Also, look for dark spots as ununiform brightness often leads to dark spots.

3. LED lamp model

There are two kinds of transparent LED display screens. One has the front light and the other, the sidelight.

In side luminous LED screens, the LED lamps are placed on the upper or lower side of the strip. Such screens have a 160° viewing angle and offer wider viewing capability. Also, these LED displays have a relatively higher permeability rate and better anti-knock ability.

The front light transparent LED display has standard LED placement at the front offering an omnidirectional viewing Angle of 140°. Such screens have more mature technology and the quality is stable and reliable.

4. Wire quality

Only buy a transparent LED display that comes with UL-certified wires. The certification is an assurance that the circuitry and wiring of the panel are high quality. You can inspect the quality of wires by peeling off the outer skin the counting the number of wire threads in the core. Ideal wire cores are 15, 17, and 19 pcs but there are panels with 20 or 30 cores as well. Avoid panels that use 11or 14 core wires.

5. Temperature of LED lamps 

LEDs produce heat just like any other electric lamp but not as much. LED display screens are highly energy-efficient and use around 80% less electricity than other screens.

If a transparent LED display is getting hot or its temperature is very high after a period of time, it is an indicator of a poor quality product. LED screens that run too hot are not stable.

6. Stent type

A majority of transparent LED screens have a silver-plated copper stent. The advantage of using silver-plated copper stents is faster heat dissipation and better heat transfer to the lamp. However, recently some LED display manufacturers started using ceramic brackets in place of silver-plated copper stents, these brackets offer excellent thermal conductivity.

7. Solder joint quality

If the LED screen panel has a good welding quality solder joints will be full. Also, if high-quality solder is used for welding,the joints will be brighter. Look for discolored joints as it is an indicator of poor quality soldering.

Bad welding can result in dead LED lamps or abnormal color. Such a product will require too frequent maintenance and will not be reliable.

8. LED chip

The size, brand, and type of chip are a direct measure of the quality of lamp beads. Generally, the larger the chip, the more stable are the LED lamps. The brightness is also higher and heat dissipation is efficient in such lamps. The LED chip is an important component as it decides the color, rendering index, and brightness.

9. PCB thickness 

The thickness of the PCB panel should be less than 10mm as any thicker board will affect the permeability of the transparent LED display.

10. Glue

A quality outdoor LED display using a transparent screen will use imported glue. High-quality glue ensures that LED lamps are not easily deformed by pressure or rough handling.
