Babbel review | CNN Underscored

(CNN) –

There are more language learning applications than real languages. Or so it seems. So what does it take to make a service stand out?

Babbel aims to stand out with an elegant user interface and 14 languages to learn. The CNN Store is offering a lifetime subscription to the service for just $179 instead of the usual $399. More than 50% cheaper and offers full access to all languages.

We thought, let’s see what it was with all that noise, so we tried it. And now we’re going to break it down for you.

Babbel offers 14 different languages, including expected languages such as Spanish, Italian, French, English and German. Other languages are Danish, Dutch, Indonesian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Turkish. We appreciate the wide range of languages that this application offers. And if you’re ambitious and want to learn two languages, you can easily switch from one to the other. Babbel keeps track of your progress in one language when you start in another, so you can always pick up where you left off.

Once you have chosen a language, Babbel will ask you about your language experience. If you are a beginner, start in the beginner category.

Dale breaks down his learning method when you start learning vocabulary. The interval repetition method is used, which means that you will see words and phrases repeated throughout the lesson. Not to mention, Babbel reminds you when it’s time to work out.

You can choose the best time for Babbel to send you a push message. These recall options include. B. At lunch and on the way home. Babbel wants your training to fit perfectly into your day. This application is clearly aimed at everyday life.

Once selected, you can choose the exact time and number of times per week you want to receive a reminder. Three days are preselected, but you can change them by simply tapping certain days of the week. We found these reminders very helpful. If you’re busy with meetings or school, it’s good to know you have a workout program that fits you.

This application is extremely intuitive and easy to use. You won’t get lost looking for information and you won’t go back to your seat in class. At the bottom of the application you will find five tabs to access your home page, lessons, comments and your personal profile, where you will also find the settings of the application.

We loved how easy it was to navigate and find what we needed. The interface seems to be suitable for all ages, and even if you tend to get overwhelmed by technology, Babbel won’t give you a chance to get lost.

You won’t be bored with Babbel either. As the lessons progress, you will spell, match and speak your new language. Vocabulary is taught in every lesson. As you practice, you will see images, hear dialogue, type in words to complete and speak them into your device’s microphone to practice your pronunciation. We were excited to see how this application changed learning tactics. This allowed us to concentrate on our task and facilitated the learning process.

Babbel emphasizes vocabulary, and you can consult your vocabulary list as you progress. You can find them by clicking on the presentation icon in the bottom bar of your application. You can also hear the pronunciation of each word by pressing the speaker icon to the right of each word.

That’s where rehearsal comes in. Once you have extracted the words from the dictionary, Dale will add them to your evaluation. After you have learned new words and taken the lessons, you will want to revisit everything to see what has stuck with you. This will strengthen your vocabulary and help you learn faster. It’s an excellent feature that certainly makes sense.

Everyone has their own reasons for learning a new language. One of the aspects of Babylon that we liked was that it covered all the basics of reading, writing and speaking. You practice spelling when the application asks you to type in the words you are learning, whether you are using word letters or the full keyboard. With this application, you can practice saying the words out loud while also learning them. When you learn visual language, Babbel shows you images of the words and phrases you are learning. This is useful if you are using a language like Spanish, where the word endings change depending on who you are speaking to or referring to.

We also love grammar lessons. As you learn vocabulary, Babbel analyzes the reasons for your answers. These lessons appear in pop-ups when you answer the questions, and are sometimes your own. Dale explains things like informal and formal greetings, and the masculine and feminine endings of verbs and nouns. This is very good because it helps you better understand the language you are learning without overloading yourself. These quick grammar lessons appear from time to time and make it easy. They are not lost in translation, pardon the pun.

Our experience with Babbel is generally very positive. At $179 in the CNN Store for a lifetime subscription, it’s worth it. Babbel offers 14 languages and at the same time fun to learn.

This application is easy to use and we loved how easy it is to navigate. We also appreciated the variety of learning opportunities that were seamlessly explained along the way.

Learning a new language can be a tough task, but Babbel makes things simple enough that they don’t become too simplistic or complicated. If you want to become multilingual, Babbel is a great app to have in your pocket.
