3 teams that could trade for Atlanta Hawks’ John Collins

John Collins, a free agent after the 2020-21 NBA season, and the Atlanta Hawks were unable to agree to a contract extension this offseason. According to a recent report, the Hawks Collins offered a deal worth about $90 million.

On Friday, it was reported that Collins is unhappy with the Hawks’ offense because he thinks it’s too much about leader Trey Young. Let’s connect the dots: The Collins exchange is possible. The Hawks also have an abundance of wingers and vanguards, including newcomers Danilo Gallinari and Bogdan Bogdanovic, the young De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish, and a much better Kevin Huerter.

The Hawks have put themselves in a difficult financial situation by signing Gallinari (three years, $61 million) and Bogdanovic (four years, $72 million) with already strong teams and top players looking for extra time in the near future. You don’t really deal with power. So Collins’ delivery might have given them more leeway.

If and when the two parties go their separate ways, which teams could look for John Collins through the trade?

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Hawks are acquiring: Justin Jackson, Ty Jerome and a first choice from 2021 by the Golden State Warriors.

Thunderbolts have design capital to act for everyone. They’re not going to make all those choices and the above trade probably won’t send them to post-season anyway, so why don’t we see how Collins is doing in their rotation?

Over the past three seasons, Collins has achieved an average of 20.1 points and 9.7 rebounds. He knows how to reach the edge and make contact. He is a player who will be an integral part of any NBA offense.

The Thunder want to make a name for themselves with a young core led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and supported by Luguenz Dort, Darius Bazley and Hamidou Diallo. Collins would have given the team another top offensive source and a player to crush. The Thunder retains Gilgeous-Alexander and retains its first choice for the next NBA selection in this industry.

From the Hawks’ perspective, they get two old first-round picks in Jackson, a respectable defender, and Jerome, a long and skilled playmaker. But perhaps the biggest blow for them is the choice of design for 2021, because the beginner’s class should be much better than last year.

Cleveland Riders

The Hawks are acquiring: Javale McGee, Kevin Porter Jr. is a first-round choice in 2022 and a second-round choice in 2023.

The Cavaliers have many productive veterans and attractive young people, but they have not yet made a joint turn. With Kevin Love’s lingering injuries and Andre Drummond’s looming free desk, the team may be looking for a supplement in the field.

John Collins is another proven goalkeeper who can give credibility to the attack of the Cavaliers if he has to catch a spark. They came in second and last place in the NBA on Friday in points per match (102.1). He can dribble and is a good marksman (36.6%) on the other side of the bow.

At some point Vina and Gold would have to continue with their conversion train, and Collins would be a very important part of that, even if it means giving up some designs. After all, Collins is only 23 years old and has not yet reached full physical maturity.

Meanwhile, the Hawks get a three-time champion in McGee, who is always a positive presence in the locker room and is able to cover for Clint Capela, and a talented but mysterious second year in Porter, who has not yet played this season due to personal problems. If he’s going to play for the Hawks again, he can finally realize his potential.

Kings of Sacramento

The Hawks are acquiring: Marvin Bagley III, the 2021 second round draft pick against the Memphis Grizzlies and the 2021 second round draft pick against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Bagley and the Kings better split up. Duke just wasn’t the protagonist they had in mind when they recruited him for Luka Doncic and Trey Young. Les Rois exchangant leur dilemme personnel contre le dilemme financier des Hawks serait un pari décent.

Collins will be an immediate source of inspiration for the Rois in their ongoing efforts to make progress in the West. His high-level rebellion on the dribble and his global arsenal of offensives will be an improvement compared to Bagley, who is less agile and quick. Collins could also be an ideal partner for De’Aaron Fox, as it is in situations of pick-and-roll or in a public audience.

Independent of the future of the player to his name John Collins would be a long term puzzle for the Kings and a stable product like Bagley.

If the execution of the hawks does not reach the Hocker, Bagley’s potential is still unexploited. Fielleicht braucht er een Tapetenwechsel, om sein wahres Talent zu entfalten. Think that in his Rookie Year, 14.9 points and 7.6 rebounds were achieved before it could be definitively implemented in the NBA.
