Wonder Woman 1984 release going ahead despite London in tier 3

Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in the cinemas as planned, although the London cinemas are closed due to new restrictions on coronaviruses.

Health Minister Matt Hancock has announced that London will be moved to level three, which will require the closure of venues such as theatres and cinemas.

The restrictions take effect at midnight on Wednesday – the same day as the release of Wonder Woman in the UK.

However, Variety has announced that Warner Bros. will release the film, directed by Patty Jenkins, in theatres that will still be open in other parts of the United Kingdom.

According to the website, the studio is also working on a video-on-demand agreement with Sky, which could see the film at the cinema in a month’s time on a subscription basis – but nothing has yet been confirmed.

Wonder Woman 1984 is the long awaited sequel to the film of 2017.

When will Wonder Woman be released in 1984?

The British release date for Wonder Woman 1984 remains fixed at 16. December 2020.

It has been postponed five times after it was originally scheduled for the 13th. December 2019 should appear.

It will be shown throughout the UK in cinemas that are still open, and at the moment the British are not able to watch the film online.

What’s going on with Warner Bros. 2021 Slate?

Warner Bros. recently shocked movie lovers by announcing that his full 2021 film series, starting with Wonder Woman, will be released through his HBO Max subscription service and will also be released at the cinema.

The 17 films, including Matrix 4, Suicide Squad and Dune, will be available on the platform for 31 days from the release date.

The agenda of the studios for 2021 includes projects such as Godzilla vs. Kong, In the Heights and Space Jam: New inheritance.

It also includes Little Things, Judas and the Black Messiah, Tom and Jerry, Mortal Kombat, Reminiscence, Maleficent, Many Saints of Newark, Those who wish me dead, The Victor: The devil made me do it, King Richard and the weeping Macho.

Ann Sarnoff, CEO of WarnerMedia Studios and Networks, told the Hollywood reporter : These are unprecedented times that call for creative solutions, including this new initiative for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Nobody wants more movies back on the big screen than we do. We know that new content is the lifeblood of the film experience, but we have to take into account that most theatres in the United States will probably operate at a reduced capacity in 2021.

She went on to say: With this unique one-year plan, we can support our exhibition partners with a steady stream of world-class films and give cinemagoers who don’t have access to the cinema or who are not quite ready to go to the movies the chance to see our great 2021 films.
