The series is noted for its deliberately poor writing, and its disturbing, sometimes bloody, content, which is often the type of subject matter that parents find frightening. The television series is based off the books written by Stine, which were based off the stories sent in to his children’s books division. The original Fear Street was a scary young adult novel written by R.L. Stine. The novel, which is a series of children’s horror stories, revolves around the characters of Ray Ganton and Abby Fitzer. The two are best friends, but the latter is very afraid of ghosts and other supernatural creatures.

With Netflix’s Fear Street trilogy frightening the living daylights out of us, the ensemble that inhabits this new cinematic universe has provided a welcome break from the horror. The safest place to shelter among the horrific murders and carnage in this popular young adult series was your imagination. How could spectators not wonder, as more and more characters appeared and disappeared from the screen, “Where have I seen this actor or actress before?” You’ll find yourself doing that a lot in Netflix’s Fear Street: Part One – 1994, Fear Street: Part Two – 1978, and Fear Street: Part Three – 1666.
The fact that we can’t exactly pinpoint anybody is, nevertheless, part of the project’s genius. The performers all seem to be the personalities they are portraying. I’m sure you’re thinking, “They’re actors, so of course they do! It was for this reason that they were cast.” That is true; nevertheless, the fact that we don’t recognize many of these performers and are constantly wondering where we’ve seen them adds to the terror on screen. Madeira, Kiana
While there are a lot of characters in this ensemble, and the stars change over the films, Kiana is the glue that holds it all together. Madeira reappears in Fear Street: Part Three – 1666 as the oft-mentioned Sarah Fier, as Deena in Fear Street: Part One – 1994. Among other programs, she has featured in the Netflix series Trinkets, an episode of The Flash, the Taken TV series, and SyFy’s Dark Matter. Fear Street is a kind of coming out celebration, and it seems that Kiana Madeira will be on everyone’s mind for the foreseeable future.
Welch, Olivia Scott
Welch portrays Hannah Miller in Fear Street: Part Three – 1666, while the other half of the century-spanning romance (with Kiana Madeira’s character) begins with Samantha Fraser in Fear Street: Part One – 1994, and love leads them back together in Fear Street: Part Three – 1666. Welch may not have many credits to her name, but she has accomplished a lot. She starred in Amazon’s Panic, and she co-starred alongside Toni Collette, Merritt Wever, and Kaitlyn Dever in the Netflix miniseries Unbelievable. This excellent actor also starred in the well-received Bryan Cranston movie Your Honor, in which he played Josh, a smart character who appears in all three Fear Street films (although this alters a little in Fear Street: Part Three – 1666). You may also recognize this brilliant actor from Netflix’s Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, the sci-fi alien-fest Rim of the World (another Netflix program), Henry Danger, and a minor part in Transformers: The Last Knight. Finally, performances in the Ice Cube/Kevin Hart-led Ride Along and the voice of Atticus in Happy Feet Two left a lasting impact on this versatile thespian. For a man who spent half of his career as Benjamin “Lil P-Nut” Flores, Jr., that’s not a terrible résumé!
Julia Rehwald is a writer who lives in Germany.
She changes things up a little in Fear Street: Part Three – 1666, as the forceful Kate Schmidt from the Fear Street flicks. Surprisingly, this talented actress’s résumé isn’t much longer. Rehwald has appeared in a few short films and as a guest on shows such as the Steve Varley Show. She also directed Mukbang Masarap, a film on cookery, but the most of Rehwald’s excellent work can be seen in Fear Street: Part One (1994), Fear Street: Part Two (1978), and Fear Street: Part Three (1666).
Maya Hawke is a well-known actress.
Maya Hawke is the most accomplished actor in this ensemble, and she is also the daughter of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman (and also exits it the quickest). With breakout appearances in Stranger Things (as Robin Buckley) and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time…, this young actress has a long list of film and television credits. In the drama Human Capital, she appeared with Liev Schreiber, Marisa Tomei, and Peter Sarsgaard. She also featured in Memory Xperiment: Kathy Acker and portrayed Jo March in the Little Women mini-series.
Hechinger, Fred
While it may seem like Hechinger burst onto the scene in the Fear Street films as Simon (let’s be honest, he looks tailor-made for the part), , but the truth is that this performer has been with us for a little longer. He portrayed a young Arnold Ridgeway in Amazon Prime’s The Underground Railroad, and he was scary as Ethan in Amy Adams’ The Woman in the Window. He’s also been in Tom Hanks’ News of the World, HBO’s Let Them All Talk, Natalie Portman and Jude Law’s intriguing feature Vox Lux, and he portrayed Trevor in the luminous Eighth Grade. Gucci!
Garret, Noah Bain
Skully Mask in Fear Street: Part One – 1994 is perhaps the most well-known role this actor has played. You haven’t actually seen him since, as his character’s name implies, he’s always wearing that annoying mask! This stuntman is most recognized for his work in the Rachel Brosnahan-led Amazon Prime movie I’m Your Woman.
Scopel, Elizabeth
Scopel is pitch flawless in this part that looms big, playing a variation of the iconic character Sarah Fier throughout all three Fear Street films. The majority of this actress’ work has been on television, in series such as Chicago Med and FBI: Most Wanted. Clearly, her most important part, and the one for which she will be most remembered in the near future, is that of Sarah Fier. This is good news for her, since Scopel’s haunting eyes and presence will almost certainly lead to more work and recognition in the future.
Jordan DiNatale is a writer who lives in New York City.
You’ve seen DiNatale in Martin Scorsese’s epic The Irishman(also on Netflix), The Punisher, Mindhunter, and the J-Lo led Shades of Blue as the murderer with the cool name Ruby Lane spanning Fear Street: Part One – 1994, Fear Street: Part Two – 1978, and Fear Street: Part Three – 1666. Working with a cinematic master, appearing in an ultra-violent comic book series, and appearing in one of the greatest FBI procedurals in television history is a fantastic way to beef up your CV. However, as the razor-wielding Ruby Lane, DiNatale is particularly effective as she kills victims while singing the Mills Brothers’ “You Always Hurt The One You Love.”
Amoia, Charlene
Amoia is able to integrate into the narrative and enhance the terror, like Rachel Thompson and Beth Kimball did in Fear Street: Part One – 1994 and Fear Street: Part Three – 1666. She portrayed Judy Glatzel in this summer’s The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, so this isn’t her first time in the horror genre. She’s also featured in Dexter, American Horror Story, and It Chapter Two. Amoia also appeared in Birds of Prey and has appeared in a variety of non-horror shows such as The Flash, NCIS, Bones, and others.
Zukerman, Ashley
In all of the Fear Street flicks, Zukerman plays the primary bad guys Nick Goode and Solomon Goode, and he radiates a low-key creepiness that builds to full throttle by the time you see Fear Street: Part Three – 1666. He appeared in Hulu’s A Teacher, HBO’s Succession, Netflix’s Designated Survivor, Fear the Walking Dead, and The Pacific, among other shows. These are only a few of his noteworthy credits; his resume is far longer. This actor has a knack for blending into the narrative he’s a part of, which makes the revelation of who he is in Fear Street all the more frightening.
Michael Chandler (Michael Chandler) is
In his character as Pastor Cyrus Miller, Chandler takes on a whole new level of dread. This possessed spirit is in serious danger, which means disaster for his daughter Hannah, who is also involved with Sarah Fier in an ill-fated romance. Chandler has a long and diverse list of credits, including films like Babysitter’s Nightmare and a Star Trek computer game. He’s also been on TV series such as Love Bites, The Young and the Restless, and Monk, among others. Chandler’s performance as Pastor Cyrus Miller, on the other hand, was clearly rotten to the bone, and viewers wanted more of it!
Thompson, David W.
Ryan Torres, nicknamed Skull Mask, proves that this apparently quiet, bookish actor can play evil very effectively in the meaty character of Skull Mask. This explains his CV, which is chock-full of fascinating projects. There’s Green Room, which is frightening (for more than one reason), Blue Ruin, Win Win, and A Christmas Story 2, as well as TV appearances on Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Gotham (in which he portrayed Scarecrow), and Amazon’s Panic, in which Olivia Scott Welch also starred.
Matthew Zuk (Matthew Zuk) is
As you may have suspected, just because your last name is Goode doesn’t imply you’re a Goode. Throughout the three Fear Street films, Zuk portrays Mayor Will Goode and Elijah Goode. Where have you seen him before? He starred in Tom Hanks’ World War II epic Greyhound and portrays Negative Man in DC’s Doom Patrol. Prior to that, he made a cameo in Avengers: Infinity War and appeared in TV series including RePlay, Rectify, and Mercy Street. Zuk may well have the most diverse resume of all the performers on this list.
Sink, Sadie
Sink has been in TV series such as Blue Bloods, The Americans, Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and a great performance alongside Liev Schreiber in Chuck (a tale about boxing star Chuck Wepner). However, you are most likely familiar with her from her role as Max in Stranger Things. All of this adds to the intrigue of her more mature performances in the Fear Street films as Ziggy Berman and Constance. The fact that Stranger Things and Fear Street have similar plots but different people is what elevates Sink’s performance here.
Emily Rudd is a writer who lives in New York City
Rudd has an intriguing history, and it’s likely that she was cast as Cindy Berman and Abigail in Fear Street: Part One (1994), Fear Street: Part Two (1978), and Fear Street: Part Three (1666) because of those selections. The actress may be seen in the Dynasty remake, Amazon’s Philip K. Dick-inspired Electric Dreams, and the very popular Hunters, which also stars Al Pacino. Fear Street is clearly Rudd’s most important work, and she gives all she has in her depiction of the confused Berman sister (made much more difficult by the guilt her sister Ziggy inflicts on her).
Jordana Spiro is a model and actress.
Spiro will be remembered for her outstanding performance in Netflix’s Ozark. If you don’t know what that program is, you should go watch it as soon as you finish reading this. As Nurse Mary Lane, Spiro is fantastic in all of the Fear Street flicks. She gives this character just the right amount of creepiness to make it unforgettable. Blindspot, The Good Wife, and Dexter are among the other series in which she has appeared. She appeared in Must Love Dogs, If These Walls Could Talk, and From Dusk Till Dawn 3: The Hangman’s Daughter in movies. Simpkins, Ryan
Every horror film requires a badass, and this actress delivers as Alice in all three Fear Street films. Simpkins has bounced back and forth between large and small movies, as well as TV commercials, projecting power, resilience, and no fear of expressing her opinion. She’s been in films including Will Ferrell’s The House, Space Warriors, and Francis Ford Coppola’s Twixt, as well as TV series like CSI and The Night Shift. She’s even starred in major motion pictures like Revolutionary Road and Pride and Glory, but she’s not afraid to follow up with Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach!
Slye McCabe
With a name like that, how is it possible that this actor isn’t starring in horror films or at the very least authoring young adult horror fiction? He seems to be a great catch as Tommy Slater, Cindy Berman’s lover, until, of course, he transforms into the Nightwing Killer (though, truth be told, it was more Lloyd Pitts under the sack/mask). Slye has been in Destroyer with Nicole Kidman, the well-received Miseducation of Cameron Post, and the TV series Rise, where he portrayed Travis. Slye has a distinct appearance that is used to great advantage throughout the Fear Street flicks. He’s just intriguing enough to portray a “boy next door,” but he’s not one himself. Slye portrays Mad Thomas in Fear Street: Part Three – 1666, and he plays smarmy to perfection in a portrayal that is a total 180 from Tommy Slater’s.
Brandon Spink is a writer and a musician.
How many performers can claim they’ve portrayed a young Bruce Wayne and a young Johnny Knoxville? The guy who would ultimately become the mayor of Shadyside, as shown by Young Will Goode in Fear Street: Part Two – 1978, merely hints to the person he would become later in life. Spink has previously shown a proclivity for making unconventional decisions as an actor. Spink has appeared in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, an Untitled Johnny Knoxville Project, the unexpectedly excellent Miracles from Heaven, and the Garry Marshall-helmed Mother’s Day, among other TV programs.
Emily Brobst is a writer who lives in New York City
Billy Barker is difficult to forget once you see him because his masked, lower center of gravity appearance is just scary. Emily Brobst, who plays this role, seems to be a stuntwoman by profession. She’s acted in TV series including Henry Danger, Cooties, and Netflix’s The Highwaymen, as well as films like The War with Grandpa, Netflix’s The Sleepover, and Annabelle Comes Home. Brobst is a busy actor with 123 credits on IMDB, but she’s downright frightening in the part of Billy in the three Fear Street flicks.
Ted Sutherland is a well-known actor.
Having played Percy in The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Sutherland is clearly no stranger to the thrills and chills of a project like Fear Street. As Young Nick Goode, he certainly seems like a the perfect guy, but, like anything else in Fear Street, the deeper you delve into something the more you might find things you don’t think are that great. This can’t be said for Goode’s career however, as he’s done spots on TV shows like FBI, Instinct and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. On top of this he was a part of Red Dead Redemption II, which, if you’ve been anywhere near young people, is a beloved piece of video game history.
Kevin Waterman is a writer and entrepreneur.
This guy, who plays Harry Rooker, nicknamed the Milkman, looks like a mix of Freddy Krueger and Jason Vorhees, but only if they were both born in the 1950s. Waterman, like some of the others on this list, is most renowned for his stunt work in films like The Suicide Squad, Black Widow, and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. This versatile actor has featured in series such as Atlanta, Netflix’s The Devil All the Time, and all of the Fear Street films.
Jacobs, Gillian
To truly dig into the character/characters that Gillian Jacobs portrays throughout all three Fear Street films would obliterate a lot of the films’ hidden treasures (not that I haven’t before). So, let’s just say that she’s the glue that binds all of the tales from 1994, 1978, and 1666 together (Kiana Madeira being the first, as you may remember). In terms of seeing this chameleon-like actress, where have you seen her? In Community, we all know and adore her. However, the actress has also appeared in Paramount’s Twilight Zone remake, Life of the Party, with Melissa McCarthy, and has voiced characters in animated series such as Rick and Morty, Justice League Action, and Adventure Time. With such diverse fare as Bad Milo, it should come as no surprise that the part she plays in all three Fear Street films is complicated, difficult to nail down, and ultimately… startling.
