Of the NHL’s four rebuilt divisions, the Central Division now has the toughest race in the top three: The Carolina Hurricanes (62 points), Florida Panthers (61) and Tampa Bay Lightning (60) are all teams to beat.
Monday night sees two of those clubs across the street when the Lightning host the Hurricanes at 7pm. IT. The season series now stands at 3-3, with the Lightning holding a 13-12 goal advantage. The Canes defeated the Nashville Predators, in part due to a decisive point from rookie Jani Hakanpaa late in the game. The Lightning, meanwhile, are coming off a dangerous 5-3 defeat against the Panthers.
With the regular season coming to a close, it’s time to look at the playoffs and the teams that are in the running for the lottery for the 2021 NHL Draft.
