Hawks vs. 76ers series odds, schedule, prediction

The National Basketball Association has a lot of great teams, but the Eastern Conference is dominated by one team: the Philadelphia 76ers. They have won the last two NBA championships and have made it to the finals in four of the last five years. Their success is not all that surprising, however: they play in an offensive-minded, “small ball” system that allows them to put a lot of players on the court and play at a fast pace.

The playoffs are upon us, which means the NBA playoffs are about to start! And that means it’s time for a series between the Atlanta Hawks and the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers hold the home court advantage, and are the hottest team in the NBA, while the Hawks haven’t won a playoff series since moving to Atlanta. Will they be able to turn it around, or will the 76ers use their home advantage to take down the Hawks?

The NBA playoffs are about to get underway and the Brooklyn Nets are on the road to their first-ever postseason appearance—and the first time since 2008—after winning the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference. However, there are two teams vying for the third seed and a spot in the Eastern Conference Finals: the Philadelphia 76ers and the Atlanta Hawks. These two teams are in a great position to make a run at the NBA title, but they need the help of their respective road teams.

The Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers easily defeated their first-round rivals to advance to the Eastern Conference finals. In this 2021 NBA playoff odds post, we look at the Hawks-76 series odds, schedule, predictions and more. Philadelphia is the best team in the Eastern Conference this season, giving them home field advantage in this series. The 76ers won the season series 2-1 over Atlanta, with dominant wins in the previous two meetings.

No 1 Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers secured first place in the Eastern Conference with an incredible season under their first coach, Doc Rivers. Rivers has instilled a level of defensive toughness in his club that has helped them turn the corner in 2021. The 76ers play a similar style of game to the Knicks, but at a much higher level. Atlanta was able to take advantage of New York’s inefficiency by taking a lot of shots from outside the perimeter and allowing fouls often and early. On the other hand, Philadelphia is playing with one of the best defenses in the league on the perimeter thanks to Defensive Player of the Year candidate Ben Simmons. The 76ers have made great strides offensively this season, thanks to the incredible season of MVP candidate Joel Embiid. Embiid is dominant when healthy, but he suffered a torn meniscus in the first round and may miss this series. If Embiid’s health doesn’t affect this series so much (it makes it more interesting), Philadelphia will need a big man in the lineup to compete for a championship.

#5 Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks made the New York Knicks look like the 2019 Knicks. Atlanta threw a long ball with the highest efficiency and outplayed one of the best defenses in the league. Sure, Atlanta had a brilliant first round, but superstar point guard Tre Young kept the show going. Young averaged 29.2 points per game in his first playoff run. He also provided 9.8 assists per game and was the only Hawks player to increase his point total in the postseason. The Hawks are guaranteed to see two things from the 76ers. Philadelphia is one of the best four defensive teams in the league and will shoot the ball much better than the Knicks. Atlanta will need to keep their first round defense strong, and Tra Young will need extra help from his teammates. Bogdan Bogdanovic is arguably the Hawks team’s second top scorer, and they will need his active play if they are to succeed.

Hawks-76ersPrediction and playoff selection

To be fair, even without Joel Embiid on the floor, the 76ers are still a better team than the Hawks, even though they are much closer. That makes it much harder to back them without an MVP-caliber center, but I’m still betting on Philadelphia to win this series. They have an advantage in coaching and certainly an advantage in playoff experience. With Tobias Harris and Ben Simmons at the helm, this club’s formula for success is consistent. Joel Embiid’s presence in this series will only be a bonus.
