However, the story of the show does not revolve around him. It is the other characters that make the show so compelling.
The Celtic supergroup The Hundred took a risk by heading to the UK and taking on Phoenix. The historic win over the Supergroup was a massive upset and could be a sign of things to come for London and the UK as a whole.
A thousand people may have left London’s Waterloo station on Friday night, but they were about to lose a win that would have made the journey worthwhile. When massed ranks of songs and actors closed out a first night of the musical The Hundred at Waterloo – a tale of love, betrayal, and revenge set in the arena of a Roman gladiator school – the audience had just witnessed the first of a thousand acts of theatre magic.

Birmingham Phoenix were bowled out for the first time in The Hundred at Emirates Old Trafford after Manchester Originals’ Matt Parkinson produced a stunning spell of leg-spin bowling.
Birmingham were bowled out for 87 on a sluggish, used surface with 16 balls left in their innings.
Parkinson took 4-9 from 19 balls, including three in a four-ball span.
In response, Manchester raced to a 43-1 lead after the 25-ball powerplay, due in large part to Phil Salt’s 11-ball 22.
With the Originals needing three runs to win, Jos Buttler was bowled, allowing Carlos Brathwaite to hit a four down the pitch and seal a six-wicket victory with 27 balls to spare.
They are tied for second place with three other teams (including Birmingham), with Oval Invincibles leading the men’s tournament with three points.
The pitch was utilised in England’s Twenty20 victory over Pakistan on Tuesday, a match in which spin claimed 11 wickets, as well as the women’s Hundred match between Manchester and Birmingham earlier on Sunday.
Birmingham won the game by 20 runs, giving them their first victory of the season.

Matt Parkinson’s name has been on England supporters’ lips for a few of years, and more lately following his performance in the limited-overs series against Pakistan.

Parkinson’s performance was hailed as “simply amazing” by radio analyst Alex Hartley, capping a remarkable day for him.

Amy Jones, the Phoenix women’s captain and England wicketkeeper, top-scored with a blistering 17-ball 31, while spinners Emma Lamb and Sophie Ecclestone took 3-16 and 2-14 respectively.
With an undefeated 49, Harmanpreet Kaur, India’s Twenty20 captain, threatened to win the game for Manchester, but Kirstie Gordon (3-14), Abtaha Maqsood (2-14), and Erin Burns combined to limit the hosts to 93-8, the lowest total in the women’s tournament thus far.
Birmingham is one of four teams with two points, with Oval Invincibles leading the way with four points following a 15-run victory against London Spirit earlier in the day.
Manchester is sixth in the eight-team standings after losing to the Invincibles in the first Hundred game on Wednesday.
Manchester women were never ahead of the necessary run rate in their innings, even in the early stages.
What to expect on Monday: Root vs Stokes
Tomorrow, the Hundred continues with a match between two of England’s biggest talents.
On Saturday, Ben Stokes was defeated by international teammate Jonny Bairstow, but he will have another opportunity to beat a teammate when he takes on Test skipper Joe Root at Trent Bridge.
The men’s game starts at 15:00 BST while the women’s game starts at 18:30 BST.
