After leaving the Cleveland Browns’ preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, it seems like linebacker Mack Wilson escaped serious injury.

According to Brad Stainbrook of the Orange and Brown Report, Wilson underwent an MRI on his injured shoulder, which showed that he had a Grade 1 shoulder strain. He is not anticipated to be absent for an extended period of time.

Wilson was taken out of the game against the Jaguars early, and head coach Kevin Stefanski recalls the third-year linebacker clutching his shoulder.

Stefanski said, “It was early in the game – one of the first couple of plays and just dinged that shoulder.” “To be honest, I’m not sure which play it was. I recall his grasping it quite clearly.”

Wilson was not the only player to suffer an injury during the game. Tight end Stephen Carlson was also hurt. Due to a knee injury, he will miss the whole season.

Wilson Had a Fantastic Training Camp

Wilson has had a fantastic camp and has quickly risen to the top of the weakside linebacker depth chart.

He was a fifth-round selection out of Alabama in 2019, and he started for the bulk of the season as a rookie. He has 77 tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, four tackles for loss, and seven pass breakups in his career. His second season, however, began on a shaky note, as he suffered a hyperextended knee during training camp. Wilson had 39 tackles in 13 games, eight of which he started. He had a 36.2 rating from Pro Football Focus, making him one of the NFL’s worst-graded qualifying linebackers.

Wilson’s roster position was in jeopardy going into this season, but a good summer and a fresh mental slate have re-energized him.

Wilson told reporters at training camp, “After the season, I had time to reflect to myself about all of the things I went through individually last season with injuries and everything like that.” “I never felt like myself,” says the narrator. I was at a loss. I wanted to give up at times, but I found a way to stay motivated to finish the previous season. I simply had a lot of time to ponder this offseason. The news that I was expecting a son pushed me to work even harder over the winter. That’s exactly what I did.”

Jeremiah Owusu-injury Koramoah’s may provide him with new opportunities.

If the Browns opt to play it cautious with Wilson and bench him for Sunday’s preseason game against the Giants, youngster Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah will get more repetitions with the first team.

Although the Browns’ second-round selection had an impression against the Jaguars, Stefanski believes the youngster still has a long way to go.

“If you saw it live, or even if you watched it on video, he made splash plays. Along the sideline, he made several excellent tackles. On that screen, he made a great play. Stefanski told reporters after the game, “He has to clean up his eye development, and he knows that, and the coaches are working extremely hard on that.” “In our league, the best time to play quickly is when you aren’t thinking. I believe he is on his way. I believe he can get there with a lot of effort. Overall, he recognizes that there is more work to be done.”

When it came to getting Owusu-Koramoah more repetitions with the first team, Stefanski was unclear.

“As we go through training camp, all of these players and I will continue to meet as coaches and discuss those kind of things,” Stefanski said. “All of our rookies, as you know, are brought up in various timelines. Some of the men are raring to go. Some men aren’t. That decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.”
