Rob Gronkowski played nine seasons with quarterback Tom Brady with the New England Patriots before deciding to retire last season. However, Gronkowski decided to cut his retirement short when Brady signed a two-year, $50 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the offseason. Brady and Gronkowski are in their tenth seasons. The Buccaneers, meanwhile, entered the playoffs as No. 5 after winning the regular season 11-5. Prior to Sunday’s divisional game against the New Orleans Saints, Gronkowski spoke with Willie McGinest, a former Patriots defender and current NFL Network analyst.
Asked about Brady, Gronkowski replied that his long-sitting quarterback remains his constant, according to Fan Sided’s Braulio Perez. He was pretty much the old Tom, I would say, in the competitive world of football, Gronkowski told McGinest. Gronkowski did notice something unusual about Brady’s behavior when he was in the locker room, however. He joked around more than usual in the locker room and that’s nice to see, said Gronkowski, who had 45 catches for 623 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season.
