mollyfamwatTerrence Clark, a freshman on the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, was killed Thursday in a car accident near Los Angeles.
Clark was 19 years old.
LAPD Sgt. John Matassa of the Valley Traffic Division told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne that Clark was the last passenger in a vehicle, which was speeding down San Fernando Valley Area von Los Angeles at about 2:10 p.m. PT.
The file was recorded on video. He was driving another vehicle, which gerade nach links abbiegen wollte. He drove a car, stuck his mast in the road and slanted it into a house, Matassa said. He was taken to Northridge Hospital and was pronounced dead as a result of the collision.
According to Matassa, the driver of the other vehicle in the truck reported no injuries. Clark was driving a 2021 Hyundai Genesis, and according to Matassa, he was not properly strapped in.
Clark’s mother was by his side when he died, as ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

I am absolutely shocked and nauseated tonight, Kentucky coach John Calipari said in a statement. The young man we all love lost his life way too early, alone with all his dreams and hopes. Terrence Clark was a great kid, someone who owned the room with his personality, his smile and his joy. People are attracted to him, and to hear that we have lost him is hard for all of us to understand at this time. We’re all in shock.
Terrence’s team and brothers loved him and are devastated. They know we are there for them, for whatever they need.
I’m going to Los Angeles to see his mother and brother and help them the best I can. This will be a difficult time for everyone who knew and loved Terrence, and I ask everyone to take a moment tonight to pray for Terrence and his family. May he rest in peace.

Clark announced last month that he would compete in this year’s NBA draft and signed with Klutch Sports. A statement from the school said Clark was preparing for military service.
We are saddened and devastated by the tragic death of Terrence Clark, Rich Paul, CEO of Klutch Sports, said in a statement. Terrence was an incredible, hardworking young man. He was excited about what lay ahead and ready to pursue his dream. Our prayers are with Terrence and his family for privacy during this difficult time.
Clark played in the Wildcats’ first seven games last season, but was sidelined by an ankle injury that sidelined him in the season finale against Mississippi State. He finished the year with a 9.6 grade point average.
Clark was an expected lottery pick at the beginning of the season. He ranked 72nd in ESPN’s last Top 100 prospects.
As a teenager, the chance to wear a Kentucky jersey and play for BBN was always my life goal, Clark said on social media last month. Although it was difficult due to factors beyond my control, the experience will stay with me. I have become much more mature because of this experience and I will never take it for granted.

Clark, who grew up in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, has been the city’s top candidate in recent years. A year ago, he was named a five-star after completing his high school career at Brewster Academy in New Hampshire, where Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell also played before heading to Louisville.

He was a great talent, a joy to all who knew and loved him, and soon joined our community. Our condolences and hugs go out to Terrence’s family and friends at this very difficult time. Clark’s commitment to Kentucky in the fall of 2019 was big news for him in Boston, leading to him reaching out to members of the Boston Celtics. After Thursday’s win over the Phoenix Suns, Celtics star Kemba Walker said he met with Clark, who has coached Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum in the past, and couldn’t process the news.
Yeah, Walker said that when asked if he knew Clark. Yes, it’s true. Very good. Very good. Very, very, very hard. Very hard news, man. He’s a very, very good boy. Always smiling, always full of energy. And he had a chance, too. My condolences to his family.
It’s a difficult time, boy. This is very difficult news. I don’t even know what to say. It’s hard. It’s amazing to hear something like that.
